One of the arguements that those in support of illegal aliens trot out, is that these people are doing the jobs we do not want...simply not true.
Lets look at the number and for those who want to verify my numbers, here is the link:
http://www.cis.org/articles/2004/back1104.html
Between March of 2000, and March 2004, the number of unemployed NATIVES (legal citizens) rose by 2.3 million. In that same period of time, the number of jobs held by immigrants INCREASED by, yes you guessed it, 2.3 million jobs. Half of that number of jobs held by immigrants are said to be held by ILLEGAL ALIENS. In the last year, of the 900,000 NEW JOBS created, 2/3 wents to immigrants. Immigrant gains have occured through the entire job spectrum, and over half of those jobs went to people who had at least a high school diploma. Areas with the highest population of illegal immigrants tended to have the highest unemployment rate amoung native Americans.
No matter how some might wish to portray reality, illegal immigrants are taking our jobs, and thus food off of our tables. In a report on Lou Dobbs tonight, it was reported that this year, one in seven jobs are held by immigrants, up from 1 in 10 just five years ago.
Another red herring that is trotted out, is that illegal Mexicans working here illegally, contribute to our tax system...this is totally false. Some very real numbers from CIS.org
1. Based on estimates developed by the National Academy of Sciences for immigrants by age and education at arrival, the lifetime fiscal impact (taxes paid minus services used) for the average adult Mexican immigrant is a negative $55,200.
(Gee, 15 million illegal aliens times $55,200 negative dollars amounts to a minimal drain on our Federal Budget of well over 850 BILLION DOLLARS.)
Using California as one example, the Center of Immigration Studies estimate that the average illegal Immigrant uses $3,463.00 more per year in services than they contribute into the system. That amount has to be made up by those who are legal citizens of the United States living in California. It is estimated, that Illegal Mexican Aliens and their decendents born in this country between now and the year 2050, will add over 80 million people to our population base.
For those thinking I am unfairly picking on Mexicans, the INS own numerical numbers estimate that 54 percent of the illegal aliens crossing our borders are Mexicans, with another 30 percent being of Latin decent.
The Democratic Party was the party of the AVERAGE WORKING FAMILY, the cost of illegal immigration impacts that very segment of our population base in America. If the Democratic Party is going to represent the majority of Americans, that means this problem has to be dealt with, and not by creating a guest worker program, that would basically rubber stamp a government blessing on these usurpers stealing our jobs, and our way of life.
I was reading Chris Carney's posts here on Congressman Sherwood...rather scary when you read about this man...just what is the truth about the abuse scandel?
So, why am I writing this diary entry...found it interesting after doing my reading, that Bush started his speech mentioning how proud he was to have Congressman Sherwood there, and was happy to have him join him on Air Force One! Seems to me, that there is a story here somewhere.
Consider this one quote from the NY Times article:
Mr. Pirro, a Republican lobbyist, served 11 months in federal prison for his conviction on tax fraud in 2000. He also fathered a child in an extramarital relationship in the 1980's, a matter that drew scrutiny soon after Ms. Pirro entered the race.

Jeanine Pirro though living in the lap of luxury both here and in Florida, claimed TOTAL IGNORANCE of her husbands tax fraud...YEAH RIGHT. Additionally, being nice about it, this woman appears to be a publicity whore who routinely masquarades on Fox, positioning herself as truly concerned about abuse issues, and being strongly against child sexual predators...yet, in a case that I know has been under investigation now for over a year involving a well known local attorney who is suspected of being involved in Child Pornography, as well as endangerment of a child, she and her office has seen fit so far NOT TO BRING CHARGES, even though the detective who investigated the case is convinced there is enough evidence to have the man arrested...odd? I think so.
If you think the race for Governor of NJ was ugly this year, hold onto your seats, as this woman WILL STOP AT NOTHING once she has her eyes set on the prize. Her husband, even after his time in prison is WELL CONNECTED, and this particular Senate Race is likely to be a world class title bout of mud slinging.
Vice President Dick Cheney has appealed to Mr. McCain and to Senate Republicans to grant the C.I.A. an exemption to allow it extra latitude, subject to presidential authorization, in interrogating high-level terrorists abroad who might know about future attacks. Mr. McCain said Thursday that negotiations with the White House on compromise language were stalemated.
________________
McCain's bill seems pretty straight forward, we as a nation neither condone, nor participate in the torture of prisoners...yet, Cheney seems bent on having and exemption for the CIA (with of course BUSHY BOY's permission) that would allow them to TORTURE some prisoners.
Let's end this one, run the bill to the Whitehouse, DARE Bush to use his veto power, and then use the veto over ride majority that is there for this bill to get it passed. Screw Cheney and his Thug evil twin Rumsfield.
We have ONE YEAR to carve out in a clear and concise fashion what the Democratic Party stands for, and a good start would be making Dean far less visiable...he may be great red meat for the base, but the man is and embarrassment to the party when it comes to that large majority of Americans that sit somewhere in the middle of the road.
LEts put forth some positions:
Iraq-OK, so we are there, but what is our party's plan to get us out? It is not good enough to just beat up on Republicans, as the nation already knows Bush screwed it all up. Problem is, no one is putting forth a viable plan to fit the mess.
Illegal Aliens-plan and simple, build a wall, put and end to anchor baby status by changing the law that grants instant citizenship to anyone born here, and then start the process of gathering up and shipping out ALL ILLEGALS.
Social Security-it needs fixed, but that means we all pay a fair share of fixing the system. Stop trying to make those of us between the ages of 30 and 55 pick up the tab for a greedy group of those already retired. Lets plan and simple cut everyones benefits by a percentage that would make the system solvent...some estimates say that if current and future recipients were to equally share the burden, we would be looking at a 12 percent benefits cut...sure, no one likes having benefits cut, but cutting them across the board is the only fair way to go. Secondly, end the regressive nature of Social Security Tax, by taking all WAGES, rather than stopping at around 90,000 dollars.
Minimum Wage-it needs RAISED, plan and simple. While we are at it, Congress needs to take a stand and make it illegal for companies like Walmart to all but eliminate full time positions as a way of getting around having to give their employees benefits. As for a fair minimum wage, I would suggest $8.50 and hour.
Term limits and campaign finance reform. I would suggest it is time to have our elections paid for by taxes, so that millionaires and billionaires can no longer buy access and even offices through use of their immense wealth. Term limits...no more than two terms in any one office.
Tax reform...how about tax reform that STOPS targeting the middle class, and instead targets the wealthy and elite?
Immigration-have a five year moritorium on any immigration, until such time as we have seen that our own citizens have been taken care of...it is time we stop allowing corporations to use immigration as a means to bring in a cheaper labor force.
There are over 300 statutes and laws on state and federal levels that make it all but impossible to have a third, fourth or even fifth party. We need a national law that eliminates them all, so that those Americans who do not feel the two major parties represent them can form alternative political parties so that they have true representation at all levels of government.
Imminent Domain-how about a national law that makes it illegal to take private property for private sector projects under the name of Urban Renewal by making simple local votes declaring certain coveted areas blighted, even if they are not.
War on Terror...lets get serious about the fight. Sure, the radical right wing Islamic zealots are doing the fighting, but with a wink and a nod, they are being encouraged by mainstream Islam and their Mosques. So, terrorists attack any where in the world, and our Stealth Bombers blow up a random mosque. Trust me, would not take very long for them to get a clue and reel in their own radical right wing.
The Budget...how about having and amendment to the constitution that requires we have a balanced budget, and as a part of that, no borrowing money from other parts of government that have a abundance of funds in reserve (such as Social Security).
World Trade-stop being politically correct, and get down to flexing our muscle. If China wants to play games with its currency, and wants to dump its products into our markets, fine...lets TAX THE HELL OUT OF THEM.
Energy...how about working with our AMERICAN CAR MAKERS, give them the research money needed to come up with automobiles that run on alternative fuels, such as hydrogen. If we want to focus more attention on Nuclear Power, then we have to overhaul the NRC as a part of the process. The biggest danger with nuclear power in America, is the NRC is a regulatory agency bought and paid for by the industry itself, populated at its highest levels with former industry executives, and amounts to self policing...that has to end.
Education...let's get back to the basic, and get back to teaching ONLY IN ENGLISH. Additionally, untie teachers and administrators hands when it comes to dealing with problem children. Say what you want, but taking a paddle and smacking the hell out of a child's buttocks will get their attention. Furthermore, lets start holding parents accountable. Lastly, lets fund the schools differently, instead of funding them through property taxes...lets put the financial burden of educating children on everyone's shoulders, rather than on the shoulders of property owners....especially when many of those property owners do not even have children. Lastly, if you or your parents are in this country illegally, eliminate the requirement that we must provide you and education you are not paying for.
Disagree with my positions, that's fine, then put some out on the table yourself, and lets start building a REAL DEMOCRATIC PLATFORM FOR CHANGE.
